Job Training

Renewable Energy Trade Workshop for High School Seniors & Graduates
Goodwill's Energy Workforce Program is offering a free Renewable Energy Trade Workshop during DPS spring break (M-F 8am-3pm) for seniors and individuals with a high school diploma. Students will learn about technical and hands-on aspects of working in the renewable energy trades, including solar and heating and ventilation. Upon completion, students will move into job shadowing at renewable energy companies, then be placed in paid apprenticeships (starting June 2009). This is an incredible opportunity for students who prefer working with their hands, on computers and enjoy designing and making things and problem-solving. The workshop will be taught by Al Wallace, CEO of Energy Environmental Corp, who is passionate about training young people to enter renewable energy trades. Mr. Wallace has worked and trained around the world, including studying solar systems in Switzerland and Germany; and he has taught and worked with youth throughout metro Denver.

The application deadline is March 13. For applications and more information, contact Karen McChesney, Case Manager, Goodwill's Energy Workforce Program, East High School, at karen_mcchesney@dpsk12.org or 303.944.3088.
